Brian has been part of our commercial team since June 2019. Prior to that he had worked as an installer for Carpetland, and then an outside contractor since 2012. Brian has over 20 years of experience in Flooring and Construction-related trades; that combined with his background as a small-business owner, Brian understands and relates well to the many Small-Business needs within the community and surrounding areas. As the father of 4 boys, Brian and his wife Mashell, spend most evenings and weekends traveling to sporting events.

Bryan Downing
Bryan started in the flooring business in 1986 as an installer helper at Carpetland’s Davenport location. In 1990, he became an independent installer, and after thirty years in the business, he returned to Carpetland and quickly rose in the ranks to assistant manager. Bryan became the Cedar Rapids Store Manager in 2021. Whether he’s measuring someone’s home, installing their flooring, or helping them select a product in one of our stores, Bryan has always enjoyed assisting customers in finding the right flooring to suit their needs and ensuring they have a long lasting, quality installation.
Originally from Moline, IL, Bryan enjoys watching baseball and football (Cubs and Bears, sorry Iowa fans), and taking long walks daily. He has three children: Melissa, Kimberly and Ryan, and three grandchildren: Jackson, Emily and Landon. Bryan says, “There is nothing else in my career I’ve enjoyed half as much as meeting the many fantastic customers and associates that I’ve been blessed to work with throughout the years, and every day I look forward to meeting more.”

Joey Curtiss
Joey has over 7 years of flooring industry experience and loves helping his customers. Customer satisfaction is a top priority for Joey as he especially enjoys the rewarding feeling of getting a positive review from a customer after a completed project. Joey resides in Cedar Rapids and enjoys playing guitar and keyboard (while confessing to be a bit of a “metalhead”), cooking, reading, and building computers.

Kim has lived in Goose Lake, IA for the past twenty years. She graduated from Northeast High School. Kim has two sons, Broc and Seth. Broc, who is deceased, gave her two beautiful granddaughters, Tatumn and Mackenna. Seth and his wife, April, have two sons, Alec and Reid. Kim enjoys being outdoors, planting flowers, long nature walks, and value time spent with grandchildren and family. Brooke was born in Scott County and grew up in Eldridge, IA. Brooke lives in Fulton, IL with her husband Joseph and four daughters Maegan 17, Faith 12, Amelia 7, and Elaina 4. Brooke joined the Carpetland team in 2010. Brooke is very involved with her daughters’ activities that include everything from ASA softball to girl scouts. Brooke believes that good customer service is the key to success.

Over his 37 years in the flooring industry Jay has worked in many aspects of the business, starting in installation and moving into sales. Lisa Erickson is a native of Dubuque, Iowa. She started her career with Carpetland Dubuque in March of 2008 In Retail Sales. She has a background in Interior Decorating and Design and has the ability to creatively apply her knowledge and experience to best suit her clients’ wants and needs. Lisa provides signature customer service – fully understanding that everyone she encounters is different – and she tailors her approach to exceed their expectations and meet their needs. She loves the one on one interaction with each and every client. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, organizing annual fishing tournaments, camping and canoeing. Allen is a Flooring Specialist for both contract and retail sales in Sterling, Illinois. Allen has lived in the Sauk Valley area since 1985. He graduated from Dixon High School in 1995 and also attended Sauk Valley Community College where he was active in the Sauk Valley Student Government. Allen now resides in Sterling with his wife, Kim, and two children, Ethan and Caitlyn.
