Get Your House Ready for Market

It’s time. We’ve made it through the long stretch of winter. While it may take a few more weeks for the warm sun to thaw us out, it’s time to think about getting your house on the market.
Is the thought of it overwhelming? Are you tempted to just throw a sign in the yard and see what happens?
At Carpetland USA, we urge you not to do that! You need to prepare your home for its big day. Here are some tips:

  1. Curb appeal matters! The exterior of your home is the first thing a potential buyer sees. That first impression is so important because people make assumptions about the rest of your home based on the outside. It’s not just mowing the lawn, either. Landscaping and the state of your siding is also taken into consideration.
  2. Spring clean and then some. Yes, your home must be clean if you want to sell it. You must also remove clutter – it almost matters more than your house being spotless. Clutter makes potential buyers anxious when they should be at ease.
  3. Stage the space. The balance of pristine and lived-in is hard to find, but once you do, you’ll see great results! Once you’ve removed the clutter, add a few touches back to the room. For example, a bowl of fruit in the kitchen, a vase of flowers, or a blanket draped across a chair are relatable elements people expect to see.
  4. Take quality photos. We’ve all visited realtor websites with blurry or dimly lit pictures that give you no indication of the house. Don’t be that person. Make sure the images of your home highlight its best features and give potential buyers a real sense of the space.

If you’re looking to make some remodeling changes, come see us at Carpetland USA. You can find staging inspiration on our Pinterest boards, too. We wish you the best of luck on the market this spring!
