Spring Clean and Organize Every Room in Your Home

Spring has sprung, which means it’s time to partake in the annual spring clean! Has your home become a cluttered mess over these past few winter months? Now’s the time to get your home in order and prepare for the warm weather with a freshly organized living space. Here are a few tips to help you beat the clutter during your spring cleaning efforts.

Tame the kitchen
The first step in organizing your kitchen is to decide what items you must absolutely keep, and what items are okay to throw away. When it comes to utensils, scrap any broken or unused utensils and kitchen gadgets. Once you have decided what you will keep, be sure to give everything a deep, thorough clean—don’t forget to clean the inside of your drawers, as well. Moving forward, consider using drawer separators to keep all of your gadgets organized. This allows you to separate utensils based on size or use, and keeps everything in its designated place.
Once you have organized your drawers, move your attention to your pantry and fridge. Throw away any items that have expired, and take inventory of what you have left. While you are taking inventory, be sure to remove all items and wipe down all the drawers and shelves. When putting items back on the shelf, try dividing them into zones. For example, put dry goods on one shelf, baking ingredients on another and meats or dairy items on another. This will prevent any cross-contamination, and keep everything neat and organized.
Declutter the entryway

One way to declutter your entryway is to pare down any overstuffed coat racks or shoe bins. Donate or throw out any unused outerwear, or decide which off season items can be placed in storage. For mittens, hats or scarves, store these items in a stylish bin, either on a shelf or in a closet. Remember, the key to keeping your entryway decluttered is containment, using boxes, bins and racks to keep all of your items accessible, yet organized and out of sight.

Straighten up the garage
When it comes to cleaning your garage, wall space is your best friend. Use as much vertical and ceiling space as possible to hang large items—like bikes, tools, ladders, etc.Just be sure you allow yourself enough space to park your car without having to move any of the items.Once you’ve hung up as many items as possible, consider purchasing a few large shelving units to hold any additional smaller items. When you are placing items on shelves, group like items together so they are easy to find. Before you begin organizing, it’s also important to know exactly what each space of your garage will be used for. This way you can strategically plan what type of storage will be used, and which items will be placed in each area.
Lighten up the living room
The living room can often turn into a dumping ground for all of your misfit items.  Before you begin decluttering your living room, start by gathering all of your misplaced items and putting them into one large pile.
